Digital Library Development Center at The University of Chicago

How we do it

The DLDC performs Web design, programming and database development, and Unix system administration. Often all three activities are an integral part of the same project. Tools used include the Greenstone digital library software, from the New Zealand Digital Library Project at the University of Waikato, Nand: A Non-relational Database, developed in-house, MySQL and the XML database MarkLogic. The DLDC also maintains an SFX link server from Ex Libris and administers server computers running the FreeBSD, Linux, MacOS X, NetBSD, and Solaris operating systems.
